Board of Directors

Community Futures Shuswap is governed by local boards of directors who volunteer their time, energy and expertise for the benefit of the organization and community as a whole. Director terms are three (3) years in length; to ensure organizational strength is maintained, opportunities for interested individuals to be considered for a directorship becomes available annually.

In addition to the Board of Directors, CF Shuswap has a Business Development Committees that assist with the delivery of the Self Employment Benefits and Small Business Loans programs. The Business Development Committee includes:

Getting Involved

Community Futures-Shuswap fills Board of Directors and Business Development Committee positions on an annual or an as need basis.

The process for appointment to either the Board of Directors or the Business Development Committee is:

  1. Contact General Manager to inquire about current or upcoming vacancies

  2. Write a letter of introduction expressing your interest in becoming involved in Community Futures-Shuswap to:

    Include a copy of a current resume which outlines relevant skills and experiences

  3. The Board Recruitment Committee will review all letters of interest annually or as needed and will contact prospective members to further discuss potential involvement and opportunities.

  4. The Board Recruitment Committee will bring forward their recommendations to the Board of Directors. The decision of the Board of Directors will be returned to all applicants in writing within 30 days.

Every effort is made to ensure that our Board of Directors has adequately representation by community members from across our service area. Interested residents of Community Futures- Shuswap service area are eligible to be considered for an appointment to the Board of Directors and/or Business Development Committee and are encouraged to express their interest to the Board Recruitment Committee.

Governance Structure

As with most non-profit organizations, Community Futures Shuswap has a clear organizational separation between the paid staff who are responsible for the day-to-day operations and the members of the volunteer Board who establish the strategic directions of the organization and govern its operation. Community Futures-Shuswap's General Manager has been appointed by the Board of Directors to deal with the day- to-day management of the organization. The General Manager reports to the Board of Directors and in turn, the Board of Directors speaks in collectively through motion to provide the General Manager with direction. The General Manager provides day to day management and supervision to the staff in order to achieve the goals set forth by the Board of Directors.
